Bizarre Things People Have Flushed Down the Toilet

We all know that toilet paper is the only thing meant to be flushed down toilets, but it seems that some people didn’t get this memo. Keep reading for a few of the most bizarre things people have flushed down the toilet.

A $10,000 Bracelet

This item was not intentionally flushed down the toilet, but it is still just as tragic. While a woman was traveling through an airport, she went to the restroom, where the clasp on her $10,000 bracelet came undone, and the bracelet fell in the toilet. The toilets auto flusher then flushed twice, making sure the woman could not retrieve her expensive piece of jewelry on her own.

Luckily for her, there was an experienced plumber on hand who knew exactly what to do. He removed the toilet from the wall and was able to retrieve the bracelet from the pipe.

The moral of this story is don’t wear a $10,000 bracelet when traveling through an airport, and if you’re going to do this anyways, make sure the clasp works.

Toys

This one is a tale as old as time; little kids, not understanding what a toilet is or how it works put everything they can find down the toilet and then flush it. When this happens, a professional plumber is called, and then we get these amazing stories. This story is about a little boy who seemingly understood what happened when you flushed the toilet because as his Thomas the Tank Engine swirled down the pipes he waved and said: “bye bye choo-choo.”

Money

When you are young, $100 is a lot of money, and being able to hold that money feels like an honor and a privilege. So when you find a $100 bill in your house, you have to run to the bathroom so you can have a moment alone with the most money you’ve ever seen in person. Then, when you think someone is coming after you and might think you’ve stolen that money, the only logical thing to do is flush the $100 bill down the toilet and never look back.

If you’re as lucky as this kid, no one will notice it’s missing, and life will go on as usual.

Cell Phone

In this day and age, it’s not uncommon to hear of a person who flushed their phone down the toilet. Smaller devices can go through the pipes and cause serious plumbing problems whereas large phones may survive.

Unfortunately, we don’t know all of the details to this one, but what we do know is that a plumber was called to a public restroom after a toilet had been backed up, and what he found when looking in the pipes surprised him. It was a brand new iPhone 5S, still in the box, plastic wrap still intact.

We will never know what happened to make someone flush their brand new phone down the toilet, but it will be fun trying to come up with our versions of the story.

Capsule Sponge Animals

We know this could have fit under the toy category, but we felt it deserved its very own section. Do you remember those encapsulated sponge animals that grew into full-sized sponges when soaked in water? Well, an experimental kid wanted to see what would happen if he put multiple capsules down the toilet and then flushed it.

He found out his answer after the toilet wouldn't flush properly and the plumber was called only to find a blockage made up of foam jungle animals. The kid was pretty excited about it, exclaiming “it worked!”, but I’m sure his parents weren’t too thrilled.
